Alaska Food Is Definitely Worth The Trip

Alaska food is one of the things that make this state one of the "must see" places to visit in the U.S. 

Yes, the scenery and the wildlife are divine, but wait until you sink your teeth into some of Alaska's food specialties like the king crab, shrimp, cod, clams, oysters and even elk, and caribou.  Yum!

Of course by far the staple of Alaskan cuisine is the ever popular salmon. Alaska's salmon population is very plentiful and because of Alaska's prime location, it doesn't even need to be shipped in because the salmon live in Alaska already. All you have to do is catch them. Cook and enjoy!  My mouth is watering!

One of the other fantastic finds in Alaska is their sourdough bread.  Many Alaskan families enjoy this bread so much that they use the starter dough for a majority of their breads and other baked goods.

There is simply nothing sweeter than a piece of sourdough bread.  Some believe that the sourdough bread began back in the pioneer days since it was a hearty traveler as well as a hearty food for the long rough roads west.

Also popular in Alaska is wild game. Some of the best include moose, elk, reindeer, and caribou which chefs use to prepare moose soup, reindeer sausage, and "loin of caribou".

If your travels take you to Alaska, then be sure to find a local caf and enjoy a bowl of soup or stew that features some of Alaska's wild game.

For the food that is not based on what is offered in Alaska, there are also other alternatives, including many Russian restaurants and many Thai restaurants- five in Fairbanks alone!

It gives not only the visitors but the locals as well, a chance to enjoy those ethnic delicacies not often associated with thoughts of food in Alaska.

So here's the deal, if you can't find something that you enjoy eating in Alaska, then perhaps you need to re-evaluate your taste buds!
